Information:
Well as I had rather ambitious plans for the next version of Void, I decided to quickly rebuild and improve version 6 so I could keep on fighting with it. As the wide flipper was getting more and more battle weary, it was getting bent and dented, and as such it was very difficult to get any kind of good ground clearance. What I did was to chop the sides of the flipper off, shorten it, and add 2 1.5mm thick Duralanium spikes out the front to help with stability and getting under opponents. I also remade the wheel guards so they extended out the back of the robot to stop me wheelying. Unfortunately, I was drawn against DBA in the first round at AWS23, and was basically trashed. While the overall engineering of Void stood up pretty well, after driving into him, being hit into the roof, bouncing back down, and driving into him again about 10 times, things finally started to break. He got a direct hit on the wheel at one point, which took the wheel off the motor, broke the motor mount, and stripped some gears in the motors gearbox. He also made a mess of the 0.3mm Ti flipper - as spinners have really increased in power recently this Ti just isn't up to the job anymore, so I made a mental note to spend more weight on armor in future versions. I went back to the pits after the fight and reattached the wheel and the motor, and tried to straighten out the flipper so I at least had a fighting chance. Unfortunately, I was drawn against Defiant, which is a very tough robot to beat even when your at full strength, so it was a pushover for him to get under me and get me out. As luck would have it, I then dropped down to the losers side, and was up against DBA again - this time went about the same as the first time, although I'm happy to say that even after multiple more beatings, nothing more important on Void broke - the front armor and flipper were very mangled, but everything else (except for the stripped gearbox from earlier) was running fine. I lost this fight eventually, however I put myself in with some spinners after the main competition to try and get as much damage as possible, since I knew a rebuild was imminent anyway. Even after combatant had had a good go at me, he still couldnt break any structural or important parts, so I was overall very pleased since is this is the first time the chassis in geneal has taken a good beating. Time to build 7.0! 7 is my lucky number, so watch out :P
